I have been working in care for around 14 years. Before this, I was a trained chef which I really enjoyed doing, but I felt the need for a change, which brought me into the care industry.
Luckily, I can still use my chef knowledge within my current role, and assist to provide my clients with healthy and nutritional meals. My favourite part of the job is getting to know the interesting clients we look after because every one of them is different with their own individual story to tell.
My clients love to hear about my husband’s job working on a farm because part of his job is looking after animals. My clients love to see photos of the animals too.
Recently, I have taken on a new role with Forget Me Not. An exciting opportunity came along for me to develop my knowledge and study to become a trainer. I am now responsible for delivering our Moving and Handling training, as well as Medication, and First Aid training. I feel a great pride in ensuring my colleagues deliver the best care possible.
I hope over the next few years I may be able to look at a full time training role with Forget Me Not.
