I have been a carer for around 10 years. Whilst at school, I wanted to be a hairdresser and this is what I studied to do, however I never felt satisfied. There was always something missing. I really enjoyed the social side of the job, but didn’t feel it gave me the satisfaction I hoped for. I decided to give care a try, and I have never looked back.

It’s not always an easy job, especially when you become emotionally attached and they pass away. It really tugs at your heart strings, but knowing how much of a part I played in making sure their last days were the best they could be, really makes it all worthwhile.

I currently hold my Level 2 in Health and Social Care with the view to completing my Level 3, as I would like to progress into a more senior role. I’m getting married in 2021 and feel the time is right to move on to the next chapter and widen my knowledge.

I would like to think in the next 5 years, I will be working as a senior carer, with maybe a new little family…who knows? I do know one thing, and that’s that I’ll still be working in care.
