Tina Gentry

I’ve worked in care for nearly 20 years. During this time, I have completed my Level 2 in Care, and also completed my yearly employment training.

I believe that my main learning has been through gaining experience over the years, and working with others e.g. trained nurses. I like being a carer, because I know that I am helping to make people’s lives as easy as possible.

When I come home, I know that I have done the best that I can, and have put a smile on someone’s face. Even the smallest things that we may take for granted, can make a big difference to someone.

I like everything about my job but the hardest thing would be being in situations where people have passed away, which is difficult emotionally because you have to be strong for client and their loved ones.

I feel that working in the care industry has changed for the better, as people can stay in their own homes whilst receiving care. Laws and regulations have also changed for the better. As a care worker, I feel that my job role is more and more appreciated by others outside of the care industry.
